Within the framework of the Science and Technology Program for New Rural Areas for the 2016-2020 period, the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) and the National New Rural Program Coordination Office - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) have developed a model of wastewater treatment for rural residential clusters, applying advanced technology and using recycled materials for wastewater treatment to protect the environment and to serve sustainable socio-economic development according to New Rural criteria.
On January 4, 2022, at Science and Technology Progress Application Center of Ha Tinh, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering in collaboration with the Coordination Office for New Rural Areas of Ha Tinh Province held a consultation workshop on domestic wastewater management for new rural areas with effective treatment technology and sustainable management model. The seminar aims to report on the results achieved within the framework of the Science - Technology Project (Science and Technology) for the construction of new rural areas in the 2018 - 2020 period, chaired by the University.
The workshop attracted the attention of local authorities in Ha Tinh province with the participation of:

Mr. Tran Huy Oanh - Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief of Office for New Rural Areas of Ha Tinh Province.

Overview of the Conference

Speaking at the Conference, Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang mentioned the National Target Program on Building a New Countryside and the Prime Minister's Decision 491 on the promulgation of the National Criteria for New Rural areas, including Criterion 17 on the environment; and emphasized that in order to promote economic development in localities, wastewater treatment and environmental protection in the direction of resource recovery were the focus and needed special attention. Hanoi University of Civil Engineering has determined an investment strategy to develop science and technology with the goal of bringing science and technology to life in order to solve local problems and relying on science and technology to build policies for socio-economic development (Science-based Policy).
The Managers (MARD, National New Rural Program Office), Research Agency (Hanoi University of Civil Engineering) and Enterprises (Son Ha Group) have worked together to develop solutions to solve problems synchronously from Policy Mechanism to Technical Solutions and to provide an appropriate Management Model.
Next, Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang, Mr. Tran Huy Oanh, Mr. Nguyen Dang Hoan (Deputy General Director of Son Ha Group) jointly cut the ribbon to inaugurate and transfer the domestic wastewater treatment system for residential clusters to Luu Vinh Son commune - Thach Ha district and Cam Vinh commune - Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh province. This is a treatment model with the modern technology, reasonable cost and can be a typical example to be replicated from Ha Tinh to other localities.
